Rental Policy

This Rental Policy explains how bookings work on GoCar Jamaica and what to expect when renting a car in Jamaica through our website. GoCar Jamaica is a comparison and booking platform. We do not own cars and we are not the rental supplier. Rental conditions can vary by partner, vehicle category, season, and pickup location, so always read the specific terms shown for your selected car during booking.

1) Who We Are

GoCar Jamaica helps you compare car rental offers from multiple partners and book online. The rental contract is made directly between you and the rental company (the supplier) shown in your booking confirmation. The supplier is responsible for the vehicle, pick-up, drop-off, deposits, and on-rent support.

2) Booking and Confirmation

After you choose your dates, pickup location, and car, you will see the rental conditions for that offer. When you complete the booking, you receive a confirmation with the supplier details and pickup instructions. Availability and prices can change quickly, especially in peak season.

  • Book online to secure availability and rental conditions.
  • Read the offer details before payment (deposit, payment method, mileage, insurance).
  • Keep your confirmation email – it contains supplier and pickup information.

3) Payment Methods

Accepted payment methods depend on the supplier. Some offers allow debit card or cash, while others require a credit card. If you need a specific method (for example, debit card only), select offers that clearly state the accepted payment method in the rental conditions.

  • Credit card: commonly used for security deposits and payment at pickup.
  • Debit card: available for selected offers, depending on supplier rules.
  • Cash: available for limited offers and may come with stricter requirements.

4) Deposit and Security Hold

Many rentals require a refundable security deposit at pickup. The deposit amount depends on the car class, supplier, and insurance. Deposits may be taken as a card pre-authorization (blocked funds) or as a charge, depending on the supplier policy. If you are looking for low deposit or no deposit options, use filters and compare the conditions before booking.

5) Driver Requirements

Driver requirements vary by supplier and vehicle category. The most common requirements include:

  • Minimum age and minimum driving experience (often higher for premium cars).
  • Valid driving license. Some suppliers may request an International Driving Permit depending on your license origin and language.
  • Passport or valid ID at pickup.
  • The main driver must be present at pickup with the required documents and payment method.

6) Insurance Options

Insurance and coverage options differ by supplier. Offers may include basic coverage, while full coverage may be available as an upgrade. Always review what is included, the excess (deductible), and any exclusions. Full coverage can reduce financial risk and may reduce the deposit for some offers.

  • Basic coverage: may include an excess and may not cover all situations.
  • Full coverage: can reduce your out-of-pocket exposure; check terms carefully.
  • Excess / deductible: the amount you may still be responsible for in a claim.

7) Fuel Policy

Fuel policies vary by supplier. The most common is “same-to-same” (return with the same fuel level as collected). Always confirm the fuel rule in your booking terms and keep fuel receipts when helpful.

8) Mileage Policy

Some rentals include unlimited mileage, while others have a daily or total distance limit. If you plan long island road trips, choose an offer with mileage that matches your plans.

9) Additional Drivers and Extras

Extras such as an additional driver, child seats, GPS, or Wi-Fi may be available. These can be included in the booking or paid at pickup, depending on the supplier. Prices and availability vary.

10) Pick-up and Drop-off

Pick-up and drop-off location details and instructions are provided in your booking confirmation. Arrive on time and bring all required documents. Late pickup may reduce availability or be treated as a no-show according to supplier rules.

  • Bring your confirmation, ID, driving license, and the required payment method.
  • Inspect the car at pickup and confirm existing damage is recorded.
  • Return the car on time to avoid extra charges.

11) Vehicle Type and Model

Cars are often provided as a category (for example, “Economy” or “Compact SUV”) rather than a guaranteed exact model. The supplier will provide the reserved category or a similar alternative if needed.

12) Late Returns, Fines, and Charges

Late returns may result in additional charges. Traffic fines, parking tickets, tolls, and penalties are the driver’s responsibility. Rental suppliers may charge an administrative fee for processing fines.

13) Cancellations and Changes

Cancellation and change rules depend on the offer and supplier. Many bookings include free cancellation up to a certain time before pickup, while others have different conditions. Always check the cancellation policy shown at the time of booking and in your confirmation.

14) No-Show and Failed Pickup

If you do not arrive on time, do not bring the required documents, or cannot provide the required payment method (for example, a credit card is required but you only have a debit card), the supplier may refuse the rental. This may be treated as a no-show and fees may apply according to the booking conditions. To avoid this, always book offers that match your documents and payment method.

15) Customer Support

For questions about your booking process, website use, or general guidance, contact GoCar Jamaica via our support page. For urgent issues at pickup, changes during the rental, vehicle problems, or location questions, contact the rental supplier directly using the details provided in your confirmation.

16) Important Note

All rental conditions are set by the rental supplier. GoCar Jamaica displays available offers and terms provided by partners, and we recommend reading the exact conditions on the offer page before completing your booking.
